An influencer is a person or thing that influences another and social media is pretty much ran by influencer and is how a lot of people make their money without having to go to a traditional 9 to 5. You can literally build your social media doing something that you love and make money from it. I follow someone on Instagram, who loved traveling and trying out different foods and now she gets paid to do both.
Have you been thinking about being an influencer but don’t know how to pitch yourself to brands? We have all the tips for you! Recently, I’ve been working with a Instagram Influencer and have learned a lot about the business.
You need to figure out what your niche is (are you a food blog, fashion, health and wellness, etc.) an what brands cater to your brand and what you want to promote. If you are a Health and Wellness company, working with brands such as Nolaskinsentials or Beyond Yoga are companies you should find information on and work with.
Gather a list of about 30 to 50 brands a week, pitch yourself to them and follow up. If you don’t know how to pitch yourself, click here for more resources. When you are pitching yourself, make sure you attach a media kit, that includes your social handles, engagement stats, brands you’ve worked with (if you’ve worked with some brands), etc.
You can DM the company or reach out via e-mail (I strongly suggest this one). If you are going to reach out via e-mail, make sure you are doing extra research. Some companies have an e-mail on their Instagram page, however it may not be the right e-mail to use. The e-mail on their page, could be for customer service, however if you go to their website you may see that they have an actual e-mail just for influencers to use to pitch themselves or they go through Aspire.
You may also want to find brands that engage with other influencers with your same niche. With the current Instagram Influencer I work with, I look at other Influencers Instagram pages who are similar to her brand and see who they are working with. If I think it is a good fit, they’re a company that I will suggest to her to partner.
Being an influencer is not for the weak. You’ll have to put in the work to find brands, you’ll have to get used to rejections and you’ll have to negotiate your prices when you do find a brand that wants to work with you!
