Clear Your Space of Clutter.
Do you have a lot of junk laying around your space? Mail, trash, jewelry, shoes, and other random things that have found their way to being in the way. The first step of embracing the minimalist home, is to make sure your space is clean and cleared of clutter.
Choose a Neutral Color Palette.
Too many colors can make a room seem busy and that is the very opposite of a minimalist. Choose colors from grey to beige. It’s fresh-looking and gives a calm vibe. A good site to choose a neutral color palette for your place is Design Seeds.
Pick a Statement Piece.
For your living room, pick a bold statement piece that’ll stand out for example a storage cabin, a comfy chair or a coffee table that when someone walks into your living room it is the first thing they notice.
Monochrome Artwork.
A black and white portrait or painting will be the perfect offset for the home of a minimalist.
Bring the Room to Life.
With a lot of neutral colors in your home, it can get a little dull. Bring the room to a life with a splash of color, that maybe isn’t TOO loud. Like a dark green (using a plant could be that perfect green to bring the room to life.)
