Life can get busy, but don't let those distractions keep you from treating yourself right.
If you are anything like me, there are times where you are extra hard on yourself about almost everything. It’s a weird concept that sometimes we can be are biggest haters, when we should be our biggest supporters.
Whether you are down on yourself for not being smart enough, pretty enough, skinnier enough, or people around are bringing you down, go treat yourself. Stress can really get the best of all of us, and we have to remember to take a few hours out of our week to love yourself.
Idea 1: Go to sleep. Sometimes our minds play us when we are tired. I can not count the amount of times my work has slacked off because I was so tired. Not to mention I am so antisocial when I’m tired, which overall makes slip into a depression which can sometimes be hard to get out.
Take the time during your weekend to sleep in. Take the Saturday get errands and work done, then come Sunday, sleep the day away. I good reboot is a God sent on your body and soul.
Idea 2: You’ve been good/too busy to shop and treat yourself, so take that Saturday to hit up your favorite store and treat yourself. I’m not saying go overboard and spend whole pay check, but go get that new lipstick from Sephora you’ve been eying. Go get that cute dress that makes you feel like a beauty queen that you are.
For us who can not stop shopping, take a few weeks off and save. That alone will make you feel accomplished and rich when you finally see your bank account finally growing. Don’t break that streak, just get yourself sometimes small that says “ You are doing amazing” to yourself.
Idea 3: Go pamper yourself. I have found a new love of spas. I got a full body Swedish massage, and I felt so bouje and relaxed. This is great for all you inspirational people who take their time out of their day to go to the gym. Your body deserves to be pampered just as much as you do.
My new love is facials. I do not have problem skin, but I felt red carpet ready after my facial. My self esteem went through the roof after seeing the results. I’m not sure what they did to my face for an hour, but my pores disappeared, skin plump, and I was feeling myself. I felt naturally beautiful for the first time in what felt like forever. Self love is so important to your mental health, do what makes you feel beautiful.
Go get your nails done. It’s the little things that can give you such confidence. I’ve walked around with busted nails, and I felt so ashamed to let people see them. It’s weird how much you want to show off you nails when they’re done, treat youself.
Tip: Some of these options can be expensive depending on where you go. For cheaper options, depending on your location, I highly recommend looking into beauty schools. I have many student hands on beauty schools do many spa treats for half the price of other locations. Do yourself before booking an appointment.
Idea 4: If you’re like me, social media can get the best of yourself esteem and anxiety. Take a day just for you. Forget what others are doing, and go somewhere alone/with friends, whichever kind of person you are. I personally love having a me day without any technology. Just me, a shopping trip, sleep, facials, my cat, and a moment to myself.
